Financial Information
Payment Policies
It is our goal to serve you in every way possible, including making your financial experience clear, understandable and easy to navigate.
Like a human hospital, we offer a broad spectrum of services, expertise, equipment and procedures to give your animal the best possible diagnosis and care. We want you to understand each step of your animal's care, both the services you are receiving and the associated estimated costs. Be sure to ask for estimates from your veterinarian, or call the service area for estimates at any time, especially for ongoing care. Do not hesitate to get updated invoice information directly from the VTH Client Services at any time.
The Veterinary Teaching Hospital is regulated by a state "fair competition" clause. Our fees are comparable to those of regional specialty private clinics.
The State of Colorado requires payment at the time of service. If your animal is hospitalized for certain procedures, half of the estimate is due prior to services being provided and final payment is due at the time of discharge. Occasionally, statements are mailed reflecting charges that were not included in the initial invoice at discharge.
Treatment Plans and Fee Estimates
Please call any service area of the hospital for a fee estimate during regular hospital business hours. The specific individual service areas are most qualified to provide you with the best possible estimate of the costs for the care your animal needs.
Similar to a human hospital, the CSU VTH charges an initial emergency fee when patients use after-hours emergency care services. Additional fees may apply.
When you come to the VTH for service, the veterinarian in charge of your animal's care will provide you with a fee estimate for planned services. The original fee estimate, which may reflect only the initial diagnostic and treatment plan, may change based on decisions you and your veterinarian make regarding your animal's care and treatment. It is important for you to ask all the questions you need to thoroughly understand the treatment plan, changes along the way, and the fee estimates.
You have the right to decline any or all treatment suggested for your animal. The course of treatment is based on your decisions, with regard to your animal's needs and your financial resources. If your Financial Resources are Limited, please explain your situation to your veterinarian so that optional treatment plans can be discussed. Please call our Client Services at (970) 297-1263 with any questions.
