Capabilities & Benefits of the VTH
Special Sterilization
The VTH has the capacity for steam sterilization of large surgical packs, as well as gas sterilization using hydrogen peroxide of large surgical packs. The personnel responsible for sterilization are focused on this area to make sure we provide the best care possible.
Biosecurity
Biosecurity, infection control, and biosafety are essential functions at all health care and research facilities, including veterinary hospitals. Good infection control practices are not the only feature defining excellence in veterinary care, but it is impossible to achieve excellent patient care without employing logical infection control procedures. Procedures used at our hospital are intended to reduce the risk of all nosocomial and zoonotic illness and are specifically tailored to address contagious disease threats as they are encountered in this unique environment.
Isolation
Our hospital recently completed construction on a state-of-the-art, small-animal isolation unit that will help veterinarians provide the highest quality of care to infectious patients while dramatically reducing exposure risks to other patients at the hospital. For veterinarians in private practice, the new isolation unit gives them a place to send infectious patients they can't house in their own clinics without putting other patients at risk.
