Fast and the Furriest 5K Run/Walk

Race Benefits Pets Needing Critical Care at CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital

Join Us on April 28!

The Ninth Annual Fast and the Furriest 5k run/walk benefits animals in need of emergency or life-saving treatments. The event is organized by students in the program of Professional Veterinary Medicine (PVM) in the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Most proceeds from the run/walk will go to the Companion Care Fund. The Companion Care Fund helps community members with financial need pay for procedures performed at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. A portion of the proceeds also go to the PVM Classes of 2013 and 2015 scholarship funds.

The 5K race is set for Saturday, April 28, 9 a.m., at the historic Oval on the Colorado State University campus. Run or walk the race with your favorite well-behaved pets, including goats, iguanas, cats, bunnies, ducks, and, of course, dogs. Any pet weighing less than 500 pounds is welcome.

The family-oriented day includes a 1K kid's fun run at 10 a.m. Race day will feature a flat and fast, USA Track and Field certified course with chip timing, awesome prizes for the fast and the furriest, a fantastic dog and runner expo, tons of race day giveaways, free massages after the race, and face painting for the kids.

Awards will include the top three male and female finishers overall, the top male and female with pet, and fun pet awards including the furriest and the most unusual pet finishers.

Preregistration is available online at runningguru.com/EventInformation.asp?eID=3008, or at the local Foot of the Rockies and Runner's Roost stores. Preregistration is $25. Race day registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and will be $30. Kids under 12 may register for the 5K for $7.00 (includes t-shirt). Kid's fun run is free (no t-shirt) or $7 to include a t-shirt.
